42811 UK Emergency Alerts
Are you lads prepared for the testing of these alerts tomorrow?

What tea-con do these alerts count as?

They really haven't put out enough warnings about this one, in my opinion. Everyone was talking about it last time they tested it, and that's how I think it should be. I bet I forget and shit myself when my phone tells me the end times are upon us.

I thought it would be apt to post the incredibly haunting and terrifying video that was recorded in the event of the end of the world, to be played on American TV, showing some military band playing Abide With Me on the White House lawn. But I can't find it. Thanks a lot, YouTube.

I couldn't find it because it's not Abide With Me; it's the other one, Nearer My God To Thee:

Still horrible.

>They really haven't put out enough warnings about this one, in my opinion.

Is this sarcastic or are you just a shut in? They had radio ads, it was on the news, motorway gantry signs had messages about it all day yesterday, and even a lot of workplaces sent outmessages about it from what I've heard.

I don't know what more you wanted.

I have recently become a shut-in, and I did wonder if that was reducing my exposure to things. My mum told me about it, I saw it on the news once, and then there was this thread. That's all I have seen, although it is on the news again today.

That's all well and good if you listen to the radio, pay attention to the news, drive on the motorway, or have a job, but this is .gs you're talking about.

So, did anybody not get it? I got mine at 15:01, which is not only disgraceful, but also not disgraceful enough to complain about. Same as so many other things in this country.

Using British Rail metrics, if it came within 10 minutes then it was on time.

Mine was slightly late too. However, that might have been because I was in a building that kills my phone's reception. There was a guy just outside who I could see and hear getting an alert before I did.

I didn't hear a thing but for a local mentioning it. Sounded to me as though she panicked it was an alien invasion.

There is something very romanic about listening to this at barest volume, lounging on floor cussions while rationing out liqurice toffee's (there's really no need to eat them whole). Internet connection? I'd only miss this place. Probably wikipedia and the Internet Archive.
To think I could be cooking here on an open fire, in my living room. The state would be quite bad but there needn't be lack of beauty.
I suppose I'd stop having fun by the time food has run out. Must store some water..

That's not how it comes through; it pops up on your phone screen and then disappears again. I tried to unlock my phone when it started making the noise, and that made the alert disappear without trace.

It happened the very moment I saw a workmen's truck bash into the side of a house on a tight lane and a huge argument break out between the owner and the three guys in the vehicle, it was quite an occasion.

My archeotech Nokia work phone did it, and that thing is so ancient I'm legitimately impressed it even has a colour screen.
