I think you should re-open the dream thread. It's only really /beat/ where lengthy threads can be a nuisance, due to the number of YouTube embeds.
Expand all images.

What, the dream thread's been locked? This is an outrage.

I'd also like to voice my concerns about the dream thread being locked.

It doesn't seem to be difficult at all for my shite laptop to load it, though I understand I might just be lucky in that regard.

Plus, if we lock it, we'll lose that lucrative Fosters sponsorship deal.

I just opened it on a E-300 CPU which is as bad as it gets and it runs fine. Open that thread back up!

Because of the legacy m8. It's such a long running thread. I had hair when that thread started.

My main thing is why just the dream thread? The latest iteration of /101/ has 2.2k, and the /job/ thread has 3.4k.

Are we having a 2k limit, or not?

What are the benefits of locking the old thread and starting a new one?

Fuck's sake I'm not spending six years staring at Scarlett Moffatt's tits if one of you uses that as the OP image.

The fact some of you are having a teary over a thread is why, you've all grown fat and lazy and megathreads have contributed to this significantly. I invite you all to spend some time reading up on disruption theory and then make a thread about it.

That's all very insightful, but my counter-accusation is that whichever mod locked a thread that ran fine and was entirely not a megathread (unless you want new threads for every dream now?) only did it as a show of power, and should be dragged through the streets and lynched by the underclasses immediately.

That's an interesting theory, but purps tends to frown upon that. I would personally have threads heavy after 1K posts from now on, so even though they'll still bump on /*/ it'll be a prompt to make a new thread without us having to lock them.

Just think of the threads going away to live on a farm, you'll be alright after a couple of days and good cry. Unlike your first dog though, you will be able to visit the locked threads.

The only really notable thing about the dream thread is that it lasted so long. Nobody's ever going to go back and read any of that old shit, I just wanted to see how long we could keep it going.

So, erm...are we allowed to make a new one or not? Obviously my joke didn't go down too well.

Request that whomever locked the original makes the new one - wouldn't want to do it wrong again

"A 6 year old thread. Sounds crazy, no? But in our little image board of britfa.gs you might say every one of us has made a 6 year thread.
trying to keep up to date with years long threads It isn't easy.
You may ask, why do we do it if it is so convoluted.
We stay because britfa.gs is our home... And how do we keep track of our threads?
That I can tell you in one word... Tradition."

Tradition, tradition... tradition

"Because of our traditions, we've kept our threads for many, many years.
Here in britfa.gs we have traditions for everything...
how to shit post, word filters, even, how to talk about women (IYKWIM)
For instance, we always avoid mental slags and don't even own a TV...
This shows our constant devotion to "in jokes". You may ask, how did this tradition start?
I'll tell you - I don't know. But it's a tradition...
Because of our traditions, everyone knows who he is and what marple expects him to do."

Who day and night
Removes all the posts
Bans and locks the threads
And hang out in IRC
And who has the right
As masters of the website
To never do anything right

The mods, the mods... tradition

Who must know the way to make a proper post?
A quiet post, a correct post
Who must back seat mod
So the mods are free to not do their job?

The post masters the postmaster... general

At 14 girls start to mature
At 25 they become infertile
Therefore it is natural to marry them
Before 18 when they are pretty

The peadolad, the peadolad... tradition

And who must protect the women folk
The gentlefolk the fairerfolk
Who must always complain that
I remember when casual sexism been acceptable round here?

The thought police, the thought police ... tradition!

"And in the boards of our little website, we have always had our special types.
For instance, Simon, the webmaster..." "And sneaky smokester the grade a jokester..."
And most important, our beloved marple Aki..."
"And among ourselves, we get along perfectly well.
Of course, there was the time when someone said this was a chan with memes,
And someone else said it is an image board with injokes, but that's all settled now.
Now we live in simple peace and harmony and..."

Tradition, tradition... tradition
Tradition, tradition... tradition

"Tradition. Without our traditions, our board would be as shit pit as... as the other place!"

I have a dream that one day this imageboard will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all shitposts are created equal.”

I have a dream that one day on the white cliffs of Flamborough, the sons of former bicycle thiefs and the sons of crab killers will be able to sit down together at the table for a fisherman's breakfast.

I have a dream that one day even the massive of Mansfield, a town sweltering with the heat of casual raçism, sweltering with the pounding of ape-like fists, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little shitposters will one day live in an imageboard where they will not be judged by being in all caps Comic Sans but by the standard of their grammer. I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day down in Oak Furniture Land, with its zealous moderators, with its postmaster general having his lips dripping with the words of “cunt-off” and “teary”, one day right there in Oak Furniture Land little ambulancelad and arse pisser will be able to join hands with mental slags and Gemma from HR as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every shitposter shall be banned, every lad on /pol/ will be able to back his argument up beyond "I'm right, you're wrong", paedolad will accept the age of consent, and that Kathmandu is never mentioned again, and the glory of the cunt-off shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together as they're trolled to tears.

Fuck's sake. I was just about to post in the workplace annoyances thread on /job/ and it's locked. We don't need a new thread; I doubt someone is going to read the entirety of the dream thread, but the workplace annoyances thread certainly has its moments.

It's odd to me that we're locking all the one-topic megathreads yet keeping weekend/weekday megathreads going - surely that is the wrong way around?

Exactly. Lock the weekend and weekday threads after, say, four weeks but leave the megathreads alone.
