If people thought the SPL was shit with only two teams in the title race, I can't wait to see what they make of it now.

Well, it's fucking over now lads. Tax man turned down their CVA, of course. Government policy. They're going to let them liquidate and chase down the tax dodgers, because it's easier to start litigation.

Can't say they'll be missed.

A newco Rangers will be refused admittance to the Scottish Premier League, with six clubs publicly saying they will vote against the application.

St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Inverness announced their opposition on Monday, following in the footsteps of Hearts, Dundee United and Hibernian. Rangers require an 8-4 majority in the 4 July vote to transfer their share in the league to Charles Green's newco.

I wouldn't be surprised if they applied to join the English league system instead. Not sure what level they'd be accepted in though, I assume it would be the tiers below the Conference North.

When Celtic were considering a possible escape should Rangers go under, they were targeting League One. They would probably go no lower than Conference North if only for logistical reasons.

Newco should have to play in the junior leages for at least three years for auditable accounts and then qualification as other new teams would have to and have done in the past. There's no good reason for them to get special treatment for being cheating thieving cunts.

They shouldn't get a golden parachute into the SFL and certainly not the SPL as their arrogance and fearmongering demanded initially.

Looks like their shitty cheating behaviour and later bullying and demanding has cost them whatever sympathy they might have gotten from their peers. The votes are not in their favour and now they can't get enough for it to pass and let them in. Unless they start bribing or bending the rules they're not getting in SPL or SFL 1 for certain. They'll be lucky to get in Div 3 with the distate they've generated.

Hardly surprising. The chairmen of these clubs are not fools, nor are they the type of people likely to accept being talked down to. Typically senior businessmen don't take that kind of shit.

I expect more bribes, cheating and rule bending before this drama is over.

If they tried to get into the English system they'd have to start at the bottom there too. Good chance they'd spend decades in obscurity.

Best thing that could happen to Scottish football is the destruction of Rangers. It'll be a better game for it.

Also the best thing that could happen to Scottish society is the wiping out of a club that inspires racism, violence, sectarianism, hooliganism and everything else that has tainted the game and society there for decades.

I'll never forget the Rangers fans tramping through English cities, smashing and ruining town centres, union flag and rangers strips in tow. Pigs in human skin. The shame of Scotland.

The Div 1 clubs were annoyed at the idea of a "new" entrant into Div 1 when the standing rules of the SFL state that clubs are invited to apply for membership of Div 3. The Div 3 clubs were happy at the prospect of a "big" name coming to play at their grounds, and the gate that they'll make as a result. The Div 2 clubs were thinking "this time next season ..."

I really hope they don't create an SPL2 especially for Rangers. The SFA and the SPL have been a disgrace in all of this.

Rangers and their fans need to get over themselves. Their sense of entitlement is nothing short of ridiculous.

The SPL should be a 20 team league and now they don't have Rangers there as an excuse for teams to cry about "loss of revenue from less Old Firm meetings" I don't see a reason why they can't sort it out.

We need a "Stop corruption" campaign in the Scottish game.

15 minutes until Rangers play their first competitve game; against Brechin City in the Ramsdens Cup.

Any idea if BBC Alba is streamed on the BBC website? I wouldn't mind watching some of the game, even if the commentary is in Gaelic.

6279 Former Rangers director Imran Ahmad wins court bid

Former Rangers commercial director Imran Ahmad has succeeded in his bid to have £620,000 of club assets frozen.

Lawyers acting for Mr Ahmad claim he was owed a £500,000 bonus for the time he spent working at the Ibrox club.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-29087653

Some might say, well that is fair enough... But, why not just ask for the money to be paid? Why do the assest need to be frozen unless he knows something we don't?

I'm not going to lie, I'm worried.

>But, why not just ask for the money to be paid? Why do the assest need to be frozen
He probably has asked for the money to be paid. Without bothering to read the article, it's probably a preliminary order, and the "assets" most likely are all cash, or something readily sold for a predictable value. It will probably have been done to ensure that if his claim is eventually successful he can be paid, rather than the company taking steps to put itself in a position where they can't pay him.

His claim has been successful and one of the stipulations was that the money he is owed be frozen, if that changes the dynamic at all.

Doesn't read like that to me:
>At the Court of Session in Edinburgh, the judge found in favour of Mr Ahmad that some assets should be ring-fenced until the case completed.
>Advocate Kenny McBrearty QC told Lord Stewart that Mr Ahmad was concerned about the current state of the club's finances and fears Rangers would not be in a position to pay up if the court eventually ruled in his favour.

Right, for some reason I've not absorbed that information properly. Probably because I'm shitting it.

So, the current state of the club required this freeze of assets incase we go bust before the case completes. Is that routine, or would they need to think that was imminently likely to ask for this?

Obligatory disclaimer: Any of the following is subject to correction by anyone whose legal qualifications extend beyond their armchair.

My understanding is that south of the border he would have to demonstrate two things. First, he has to demonstrate that on balance of probabilities his claim has some prospect of success. Second, he has to demonstrate that on balance of probabilities there's a risk that the company may not be able to pay. On both points, it's only a matter of showing that it's more likely than not to be reasonably possible. First and foremost it's a safeguard.

This is what happens when a club in the lower tiers of Football pay their Manager and players PL/Championship wages.

I'm gobsmacked this appears to be about to happen again. How many teams is there in existence as big as Rangers that have survived more than one Bankruptcy?

Leeds is all I can think of.

It's likely that the club's finances are a result of their recent success. In the last two seasons they tied up the title (and with it promotion) with eight weeks to spare. Some people might be put off by a walkover season, and after two some might be put off by the prospect of a third. When (not if) they get promoted to the SPL this season, they'll have the massively higher television money coming in, and the SPL might be back to having two title contenders.
