4594 Uefa to hold 2020 European Championship across continent
The 2020 European Championship finals will be held in a number of cities across Europe, Uefa has announced. It means there will be no one country hosting the tournament, which will have expanded to 24 teams by then.

That's cool. All they have to do now is take Israel out of it.

No, they have a terrible human rights record.

Be a mensch, and do some homework so you don't make yourself look silly.

That was too easy.

FREE PALESTINE! eh, comrades? Boycott Israeli grapes!

On a serious note, I have been accused of anti-semitism by a jewish acquaintance when I voiced displeased over them machine gunning bunnies or whatever the fuck it was they were doing at the time. I don't get it at all, I've been to israel, it's a fucking shithole, and I don't think I've ever met a jew who was serious about their particular brand of invisible sky wizardry

Why's that a problem? Before you answer, remember that they're looking to put the later stages in Azerbaijan.

Never mind this human rights bollocks. Israel and Azerbaijan should be thrown out because they're not in Europe.

On topic, it'd only be a good idea if the cities were in countries that have no hope of hosting the tournament by themselves.

Actually it's to do with the fact that they aren't actually in Europe. Unless we're going to allow Syria and Lebannon to play, who are between Israel and Europe, then they shouldn't be playing. That said an Israel vs Palestine match would be good, the Iraq vs Iran match from a few world cups ago was ok.

>A "League of Nations" that will see countries qualify for the World Cup and European Championship is expected to be given the go-ahead by Uefa on Thursday.

>Games would be played in odd-numbered years on dates reserved for friendlies, starting after the 2018 World Cup. European football's governing body's executive committee has already backed the competition, which would replace major tournament qualifying play-offs.

Azerbaijan is part of Europe (just). We just don't think it is because a giant piece of Russia takes up the bit in the middle.

Not sure about the boundary on this, as Aremenia is counted as Asia, when it's arguably more European to be honest.

Israel is affiliated to UEFA both because of the lineage of mostly European Jews, and because in those days before all the former Soviet states became independent there were not enough votes at the AFC to overcome the other Middle East states' refusal to play them.

It basically replaces friendly games with a pan-European league pyramid that takes place over the course of a couple of years.

>>5506
The lineage shit doesn't come into it, it's simply because there's too many teams in the AFC that'd willingly blow up the stadium if their team was playing Israel (and vice versa). it's just impractical.

Can we not just tell them to grow the fuck up? That's like European teams refusing to play Germany because of what happened during the War(s).

Not really, because we're not likely to blow up the Olympiastadion, and neither are they likely to blow up Wembley. However the scope for violence is much greater there.

>Can we not just tell them to grow the fuck up?
Regular missile attacks, the worlds largest prison and dead children suggest otherwise.

It wouldn't do any good. The powers that be in countries like that are basically children in the bodies of adults. F1 tracks and military parades are more important than waste treatment plants, potable running water and decent living standards generally. It's a shitehole.
