I like how the Telegraph's headline paints his sin as "Sam Allardyce tried to make as much money as possible". The evil bastard, trying to make money.

The story here should be that there are so many workarounds to the rules. And maybe that Big Sam was somehow daft enough to not figure out that a bunch of shady types supposedly from the Far East asking about how to get around the rules was a sting.

If he goes there will be trouble, but if he stays it will be double.

Indeed it was going so well, now that he's gone.

You have to admit this is a) pretty amusing and b) totally typical of English football. This is it in a nutshell, why we do so badly internationally.

I think there are more revelations to come - particularly now the Telegraph has got its first scalp so quickly. Sort of reminds me of the MP expenses scandal in a way. There are reports that the FA were given the names of seven more managers who responded in some way to this sting.

On the upside, he leaves with a 100% win record.

Because he's the hero England deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Fat Sam.
