8283 Aussie's admit ball tampering
I know that neither of you like Cricket, but I have always loved it. This is an incredible scandal developing.

They were caught red-handed on the big screens at the ground, so it isn't like they could deny it - but WTF - the team management agreed to it at the break?

Just wow.

How does one tamper with a cricket ball? Add little weights to it, cover it in vegemite, or what?

Rough up one side - in this case they stuck a bit of tape to their finger, got some sand from the pitch to try and make some sandpaper - sadly the tape was bright yellow and one of the zillions of super high definition cameras they have in the ground caught them.

If you can rough up one side of the ball (while polishing the other) it is more likely to swing or curve in the air as you bowl it.

Interesting that it can (presumably) make enough of a difference to be worth the risk.

Equally interesting that they thought they'd get away with having bright yellow tape on their fingers. Why not just use a flesh coloured plaster with a bit of gunk on the top of it? I know hindsight is 20/20 but come on.

I was probably a spur of the moment decision, it wouldn't suprise me if they found the tape and then had the idea. In any case, if they could get away with breaking the law they wouldn't be Australians in the first place.

It's the fact that even the captain of the team was involved - they said it was a "leadership decision". That is so not fucking on it isn't true. They will lose their careers over this.

WTF would the Aussies resort to cheating, they're the best Test team in the world. It doesn't make any sense.
