I deleted my first post to add on this suggestion, but changed my mind.
Changing watch batteries is an easy way for places to make money. A decent jewelers will tend to cost around £10. Timpsons charges similar, but a typical Timpsons employee doesn't meet most peoples definition of "professional". Changing a watch battery requires nimble fingers but no real skill is involved, and any professional stands almost as much chance of damaging the watch as any lad on /UHU. Most high street shops who change watch batteries give you no guarantee, they'll guarantee the life of the battery, but there will be no guarantee on the seals and they are unlikely to accept any liability if they damage the watch in the process. The only exception is sending it to the manufacturer or their licensed repairer, and that can cost considerably more depending on the brand.
Long story short, whether or not OP does it himself is going to depend on the age and value of the watch. If it still falls under the manufacturers guarantee, send it back to the manufacturer/take it back where you bought it. If the watch is a few years old, but is worth a hundred pounds or more, take it to a reputable jewelers for peace of mind. If it's a £10 watch from Argos, doing it yourself is a no-brainer.
>>1940 Sorry about picture quality still getting used to this camera. Any idea how I find out what specific battery I need? Unfortunately, there's nothing in the cavity.
I'm not getting it changed on the high street after the poor service I've received, plus it's a rip off.
The battery type will often be stamped on the back of the watch casing, the bit you've removed to get at the battery. It'll be something beginning with SR or AG.
I have a Casio watch which needs a new battery. To be specific it's a Casio Databank CA-55 with module 437.
Now I've watched half a dozen videos and read guides online. But I can't seem to remove the battery clasp/retainer. I press downwards and try to press outwards too but nothing happens. I've circled the bit I press on. Problem is I can't find a guide for my specific clasp. I've tried the top one as well.
