Hey /uni/, need some advice. Simple shit really. Unfortunately I've been saddled with roommates who either don't go out at all or go out too much and don't bring me along. I'm feeling lonely and homesick as hell. What can a uni student do to make friends by himself?

Join a society. There are hundreds of them at most universities and they're basically an instant social circle of likeminded people.

I just made friend with people on the course. I didn't have anything in common with my flatmates at all.

That's good news. I'd still heed >>4869's advice, though. If you're sporty then join a team and if not then think about joining a society. Depending which uni you go to and which sport you want to play the chances are the team will be full of cunts, mind.

Agreeing with previous posters, join some societies. Unless you're at a tiny uni, there will almost certainly be at least one society that takes your fancy, and as you'll be with a bunch of other people with the same interest that's already a good start.
