Here's your wrestling thread. I expect lots of YouTube videos of botches and Cena hating... I would also like more stories along the lines of how Orton shat in a handbag.

Pic is Dean Ambrose at czw getting sawed... Just like real wraslin' should.

I can't work out of this is real or not yet, but if it is that is terrible. I was just watching Monday's RAW last night and I kept thinking "the guy looks like if he's going to drop dead if he runs / shakes the ropes". Anyone else see him holding his chest on Sunday night? I tried to tell myself that he was just doing the "you're in my heart" thing, but it looked like he was in a bit of pain. Christ.

inb4 this is all a work and he pops out of a casket and shakes undertaker back to life @ extreme rules

That promo on RAW felt like a goodbye, but I brushed it off because Warrior is an intense guy at the best of times.

I think he knew it was coming. He has been held together by animosity and rage for the past 20 years and now I think he was finally at peace with his legacy, now that it was being enshrined and treated with dignity.

He got one last day in the Sun.

"And tonight I think he might be able to use that aching old arm one more time to push the sun back up in the sky and give us one more day of summer."

R.I.P Warrior.

I was never a warrior fan, but that was quite moving.

WWE did put outa documentary a few years ago that was basically nothing, but slagging him off. Some of it was definitely justified, but he was a huge name back in the day even if his promos were unintelligible.

Warrior was very different from a lot of people in the wrestling business, which is why he got a lot of disrespect from people in the industry. There's a lot of politicking and backstage drama, and because Warrior wasn't interested in all the schmoozing and was quite vocal about other wrestlers, he got a lot of hate as seen in the documentary.

It's fortunate that Triple H has more power now, as he extends olive branches a lot more than Vince did. It's why Bruno Sammartino agreed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame after years of refusal, and it's probably why Warrior finally got respect and recognition for his talent. In the last year, Ultimate Warrior has been heavily featured in WWE 2K14, he's had a new (less mean spirited) DVD collection of his matches, and he's been inducted into the Hall Of Fame and appeared on some of the biggest wrestling shows of the year.

I like to think that Warrior died willingly, like Roy Batty in Blade Runner. Knowing he is no longer a target of derision, and instead a respected legend, he could finally rest peacefully.

Trying to explain wrestling to people who don't "get" it is almost impossible.

Which is fine, not everyone will get it and nor should they; it isn't for everyone. However, there is something in everyone's life that they hold in their heart above all else.

For some, it is books. For some, it is sport.

For some, it is wrestling.

The Iron Sheik posted this last Monday, today he posted this apology vid today. http://instagram.com/p/mjlgq4nk9M/
He's such and old school wrestler constantly living the gimmick, with the fact that at the end of the vid he shows a pic of his championship belt. Even though that's actually a belt he never held. That's the WCW "Big Gold" belt and Sheiky held the WWF championship.

That was after Scott Hall and Kevin Nash left to go to WCW. After the MSG "Curtain Call" Trips got given a lot of shit as punishment because of it, HBK was kind of immune since he was the champ at the time. It's amazing how times have changed from that.

That is rather impressive.

Japanese wrestling is a different world entirely. He is the first Westerner to win that title since Brock Lesnar won it almost 9 years ago. They must have a lot of faith in him, as "Gaijins" don't get that belt as a rule unless they are deemed "worthy". Not even Prince Devitt held it and he was arguably the biggest Gaijin draw in the companies history.

To be fair, I'm not aware of a full script leaking before. Some of the most entertaining storylines in the modern WWE era have been those that play around with the barriers between the storylines, behind the scenes business, and the things that people think are going on behind the scenes but are actually manufactured storylines. It deals a blow to the plausible deniability of all that when something like this happens.

There are lots of leaked scripts on the net for RAW.

It really isn't a big deal. If you think anything happens on that show without the consent and approval of Vince McMahon, you are dreaming. He even tells the commentators what to say. What is interesting to me about it is that each episode has its own name, even after a thousand episodes they are still thinking up names.

WWE accused of 'exploiting' MH17 crash at Battleground pay-per-view

The WWE has drawn criticism after it appeared to reference the Mayalsia Airlines MH17 tragedy to get heat for pro-Russian character Rusev during his match with American patriot Jack Swagger at Battleground.

Rusev, characterised as a Vladimir Putin-worshipping "brute" who wants to "crush" the USA, was accompanied to the ring by his manager Lana, who during a speech designed to enrage the crowd, asked incredulously: "You blame Russia for the recent events?!"

Has anyone been watching AEW? A lot of buzz about it, an actual competitor to WWE. Some really good characters and action, but sometimes it feels like the new TNA pushing the WWE rejects.

The idea that if you didn't make it in WWE it makes you a reject is completely false. People get pushed or buried based on the whims of one man, Vince McMahon. Everyone AEW has hired from WWE was either over outside WWE before going to AEW or got over on their own within WWE and were punished for it.

The fact that WWE's product is a trash fire at the moment and AEW feels fresh is because all the wrestling minds are being allowed to flex down there while Vince just keeps doing Vince stuff.

It does feel a bit like NWA/TNA, and that's because they are building new stars outside the WWE ecosystem.

WWE rejects was a bit harsh, I'm hoping The Revival do well, and Cody has done good on his own, but Brodie Lee is atrocious and the only logical reason I can see for hiring him is because he was fairly big in WWE.

Brodie Lee was one of the best big guys on the Indy circuit for years before WWE hired him, he is really good in the ring. He can get himself over, so we'll see how he goes, but from a match perspective he's a safe pair of hands that enhances other talent if theY beat him, because he's a hoss. They didn't have enough guys like that and he fits the mold perfectly.

He'll make a great transitional champ in between faces holding the belt.

Maybe my low opinion on him is due to him being relegated to Wyatt's undercard minion for much of his WWE tenure, so he might surprise me.

According to the post show presser, they deliberately fed the story to a wrestling news site to build hype. The thing about surprise parties is that they're really shit unless people know they need to show up.

That crowd ate up that moment - I love the fact that there were two distinct roars, the first when Cult of Personality hit and then a second bigger roar when Punk finally came from behind the curtain. This was catharsis.

Also Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson is rumoured to be joining the next time they're in New York. Punk might end up being jealous yet.

It genuinely felt like a pivot in the landscape of pro-wrestling when he came out, I never thought I'd see something like that and the pop he got was as loud as I can ever remember.

I haven't really paid attention to AEW, or wrestling as a whole, other than watching highlights on YT, but I'm tempted to subscribe to AEW on the Fite TV App and start watching just to see what he does.

As for the impact of this, it's been #1 trending on YT for like 4 days and is still trending on Twitter. A good bump in exposure for a man who, according to WWE, wasn't a draw.

Bryan Danielson Headlined Wrestlemania 5 months ago, that's insane. Ruby Soho is a good wrestler, she'll bolster their division.

Adam Cole was inevitable. His wife works there and Kenny and the Bucks are his friends. WWE are changing NXT and he wasn't in their plans for that, he took the chance and left.

It's the most exciting time to be a wrestling fan since Bash at the Beach when Nash and Hall went to WCW. I did end up subscribing to their Fite TV thing and so far it's been above RAW and Smackdown quality wise, about the same as I remember NXT being when I watched it on YT. I also like the knock off version of Velocity and Sunday Night Heat the have called Dark where they just have Dark matches, the commentary is hilarious.

So far so good.

Wrestlemania tonight and tomorrow. Also the NXT show that airs right now (might have finished by now). That's at least 10 hours of WWE over this weekend, not factoring in Hall Of Fame induction. I haven't been following WWE so much recently, just the stuff they share on Facebook, but I'm liking this Cameron Grimes fella. Gimmick is he got rich from Gamestop stocks and crypto.
